  16. Anyway, the battery *probably* is a 1/2-5/8" diameter gismo shrink
  17. wrapped in a heavy, (probably) bright blue plastic that shows it has
  18. 3 ribs over the length of it.  And it will be obvious that the metal
  19. portions visible on the ends are bright *stainless steel* (at least
  20. until the leakage gets to it) with the leg on one end having a single
  21. tab soldered into the board, and the leg on the other end having two
  22. tabs soldered into the board.

  24. If its leaking, there will be a white, almost saltlike coating on the
  25. ends of it and on the board.  This is the electrolyte from the
  26. battery and is sodium hydroxide, aka *lye*.  Wash it off with warm
  27. water, allowing the board to get really wet so whats absorbed into
  28. the board might dissolve again and be rinsed away.

  30. Check its voltage too, should be in the 3.6ish area.  If 2.4ish or
  31. 1.2ish, replace even if not leaking as it has a shorted cell or 2.  I
  32. found a somewhat wider but otherwise usable replacement at my local
  33. electroncis supply store.
